A week after the release of iOS 17.0.2, Apple released the iOS 17.0.3 update for iPhone models. It also released a new version of iPadOS, 17.0.3, for iPad users.
iOS 17.0.3 released: Problems are being solved!
iOS 17.0.3 addresses a significant overheating issue on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. After the new iPhone 15 models went on sale, customers began to complain that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max were overheating and in some cases could shut down due to heating issues.
Some third-party apps caused issues overloading the A17 Pro chip and caused heating issues. Apple also confirmed there was a bug at the end of September. However, he stated that this problem will be solved with the update and that the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro is not the culprit.
Apple has stated that it has no intention of replacing the A17 Pro chip, and that the titanium and aluminum design of the iPhone 15 Pro actually provides better heat dissipation than the stainless steel frames used in previous models.
Apps affecting performance included Instagram, Uber, and others. In addition to releasing an update to address the iOS 17 issue, Apple also worked with app developers to optimize the apps that were causing the issues.
iOS 17.0.3 and iPadOS 17.0.3 updates can be downloaded over-the-air on eligible iPhones and iPads by going to Settings > General > Software Update. We recommend you do it too. Because iOS 17.0.3 and iPadOS 17.0.3 updates also address a kernel vulnerability that allows hackers to have high privileges.
